This is nothing but lies and propaganda!

No Andrew’s? No Danny’s?

How dare you suggest that either Danny or Andrew do not make the BEST burger in the country get beaten by this crew of malcontents!

How very dare you sir!

roj ( January 29, 2013 at 19:59 )

Merrywell bun is average!

samson ( January 29, 2013 at 20:49 )

Danny’s all the way!!

Mike ( January 29, 2013 at 20:54 )

Andrews is a terrible burger, maybe
10 years ago but after 4 changes
of hands it’s a bloody terrible burger, full stop.

Stu ( January 29, 2013 at 21:07 )

Danny’s is terrible not Andrews, so sorry !

Stu ( January 29, 2013 at 21:08 )

huxtaburger shouldve been higher

Benjamin ( January 29, 2013 at 21:16 )

@Benjamin

Slightly higher but not too much.

I think the burgers are far too salty, and surely you have to take a few points off for being so slow..

Ron ( January 29, 2013 at 22:21 )

But regardless of the order, it’s a great solid list !

Ron ( January 29, 2013 at 22:23 )

Thank Goodness Danny’s is no longer up there, should never be rated at all. Thumbs up for Merrywell, it is a step above.

Rick ( January 29, 2013 at 22:34 )

Burger Lounge in Eltham is not even in the top 10… this is hardly a comprehensive list.

Bob ( January 30, 2013 at 00:38 )

To not include TGIF’s Jack Daniels Burger with Cajun onion rings as one of the top is sinful! Your list absolutely sucks! I also love the Grill’d Summer Sunset.. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. nomnomnomnomnom..

Cat ( January 30, 2013 at 09:02 )

No Jus Burger?

Lucky ( January 30, 2013 at 10:09 )

Ha! if you think burger lounge in Eltham deserves to be on there you obviously need to get out of Eltham once in a while

Brendan ( January 30, 2013 at 13:18 )

I want to congratulate you guys. This is a great list.
Well done.

J. Megahan ( January 30, 2013 at 14:25 )

what about the most liked post? The B.East?

Maz ( January 30, 2013 at 15:17 )

the new place in ballarat should be on the list… it is unreal! nothing like it in australia !

burgaholic ( January 30, 2013 at 15:21 )

Anyone who raves about Danny’s clearly hasn’t been there recently. Value still there, but the product has slipped mightily. Hope they get it back!

Scottmagnum ( January 30, 2013 at 15:29 )

It never ceases to amaze me how many people rave about these substandard places (Danny’s, Burger Lounge, Grill’d) and criticise your list when it is obvious they’ve not tried any of these truly great burgers.
I think this is your best list yet guys. Danny’s is really quite awful and never deserved a place, and as much as I love Andrew’s I don’t think it can really rub shoulders with the rest of this list. Although it is the best traditional, dirty fish n chip shop style burger around.

Keep up the search and entertaining reviews. Great stuff.

Daryl ( January 31, 2013 at 13:35 )

I agree with you completely Daryl.

These guys have come a long way, I remember the early days when they used to rave about Grill’d burgers!!

People who think Danny’s and all those pseudo gourmet chains are the best really aren’t trying hard enough.

It’s great that Danny’s have been around forever, but they aren’t very good burgers, and beside the guys here have already paid their respects to them and included them in other best of lists so it’s time to move on.

In terms of the food truck battle of burgers. I would have to put Mr.Burger on top of Beatbox kitchen. I’ve had both and I can’t remember the first time I had Beatbox. But the first time I had Mr.Burger, I remember that. The pickles, mustard, ketchup and everything else in there just works so well together.

Josh ( February 5, 2013 at 12:06 )

Parlour Diner was excellent – went there based on this top 10.

MJ ( February 5, 2013 at 13:09 )

Great list, but Huxtaburger should of defiantly beaten Parlour diner. Don’t get me wrong Parlour was good but really thought Huxtaburger should of made it further down.
Also Grill’d should never even be on this list.
Good stuff guys.

NM ( February 5, 2013 at 16:11 )

Danny’s doesn’t have pickles…

Blah ( February 6, 2013 at 18:10 )

Huxtaburger is greasy vomit, will be out of business in a year or two.

Parlour is far far far better

James ( February 7, 2013 at 09:16 )

The service at merrywell was appalling! Such jerks!
Mr burger is definitely one of my new favs though! Glad to see them on the list.

Rebecca ( February 7, 2013 at 13:20 )

Babu Bar Burger on Chapel Street is easily up there in the top couple of burgers in Melbourne.

Hasnt even rated a mention yet.

BD ( February 21, 2013 at 16:41 )

Currently in the process of completing this adventure. Every saturday this month has been filled with cheesy goodness. Although I have had most of these burgers in the past, its good to take a few mates around and spread the work about these places. HOWEVER – Huxtaburger should have been higher…..Clearly one of the best…Certainly better than beatbox kitchen. I love both, but Huxta is just amazing.

Paul ( February 21, 2013 at 18:20 )

Andrews was a huge disappointment when we went there a few weeks ago for the first time. About equivalent to a decent fish and chip shop burger. We just couldn’t understand the rave reviews. Baffling.

Initial impression of the Merrywell was glowing, we absolutely loved it. Been there five times now, unfortunately had to lower our rating significantly. Had one fantastic Merrywell, one average, one terrible. One decent K.I.S.S, one rubbish. Very inconsistent, but more bad than good. Very surprised by it getting first spot.

Gurbachen ( February 21, 2013 at 21:53 )

Where’s mistys?after being to the states I would say its the closest thing to an actuall American burger. Where’s jus burger? How the hell is the merrywell #1. This is propaganda.

Anonymous ( March 10, 2013 at 11:17 )

I’m glad B.East isn’t anywhere in there.

I’ve been there twice now and the burgers are revolting, and the service is just awful.

I had a burger come straight from the kitchen that was cold. COLD.

I don’t know why it’s always so busy? Dumb hipsters I guess.

It’s a shame that The Gem didn’t keep their cheeseburger as a regular menu item because it’s one of the best I’ve tasted.

DC ( March 13, 2013 at 23:53 )

Hi guys great list…those people suggesting Huxtaburger is great need their palate examined by a shrink. The burger is salty and yes the sauce is great, but they often put far too much on and it completely overwhelms the total flavour. I should know I work in Collingwood and eat burgers at least once a week. They were good in the past, but sadly success has made them lazy. If you go around the corner literally on Peel Street, a new place has just opened …go find yourself an insane burger there (I like the Mex) – it’s called the Star Hotel. I forecast it will be in the top 3 next year. Mark my words.

Josh ( March 20, 2013 at 20:40 )

grilled and dannys!

potato ( April 29, 2013 at 13:12 )

I think the guy’s who try these burgers should make there way to the western suburbs to a place called New York Minute, the best burger I have ever eaten in Melbourne.

James ( April 30, 2013 at 15:37 )

I have tried many of the burgers listed in this top ten and none compare to the feeling of complete satisfaction one gets when consuming the Barney Allen’s burger. How Barney Allen’s did not make top ten is beyond me! It questions the credibility of this entire website! Clearly not enough thought or research has gone into this top ten. I call for a revamp of the top ten.

Andy ( May 9, 2013 at 13:33 )

I chanced upon a new place called Bobs burgers in Moorrabbin and was blown away by the Hummer Burger. Gonna go back and make my way through the menu.

Ronson ( May 11, 2013 at 12:58 )

Merrywell is overrated. Above average at best, don’t understand how it’s number one when you compare it to some of the other great burgers on the list. As for those saying Andrew’s and Danny’s, all I can say is lol. Those burgers are on par with your average, run of the mill fish and chip shop, if not worse.

If you get off on dry and tasteless patties resembling frozen, home-brand patties from the supermarket, by all means, you may consider their omittance “lies and propaganda”.

Jimbo Jones ( May 19, 2013 at 00:42 )

I’m not sure about the Merrywell pick for #1. There are way better burgers out there and like Drugstore Espresso burger!

William ( May 27, 2013 at 18:28 )

Nshry umami was shit as

Alex Nguyen ( May 28, 2013 at 14:58 )

there is a new burger place in town they are in swan street richmond
called The Beer and Burger lounge loved it
guys go down and you can be judge it for your self

gabriel ( May 30, 2013 at 12:46 )

Su do nan goes down well with burgers

Kevin Vu ( May 31, 2013 at 01:10 )

people, please just say no to turkish rolls as burger buns
they are all wrong, too heavy
burgers should not be akin to trecking through heavy sludge…
there is a good reason why middle eastern bread based street foods are light on for toppings, like pide, the warm bread is the snack & it does all the talking
thus, turkish rolls cannot cope with a slab of beef in the middle
please, cease & desist this practice immediately

bob ( June 4, 2013 at 01:36 )

Mr.burger is easily the best followed by rockwell and sons

Burgerking ( June 13, 2013 at 17:41 )

I dont understand why the maccas chesseburger isnt number one who doesnt love a chessy ?

Julia canavan ( June 13, 2013 at 19:59 )

Just had an amazing burger at Ribs & Burgers in Northcote. Ranks up there with Andrews 5 years ago. Yummy.
